Nut Bull
Limited Edition of 9 Worldwide.
The Making of the Nut Bull Sculpture
Each Nut Bull sculpture is a testament to Shaun Gaggās exceptional craftsmanship, precision, and dedication to his art. Every piece begins with 14,000 individual steel nuts, each one meticulously welded by hand. In total, the sculpture contains over 50,000 welds, reflecting the immense skill and time invested in creating this striking work.
Once the initial structure is complete, Shaun grinds down every weld so the surface sits perfectly flush with the nuts, giving the sculpture its signature smooth, seamless finish. After this stage, the bull is carefully cut into sections. This allows Shaun to reweld the interior, adding significant structural strength and ensuring the sculpture is built to last.
When the internal welding is complete, the bull is reassembled and prepared for finishing. It is then shot-blasted to clean and texture the surface before undergoing hot-dip galvanising a process where the sculpture is coated in molten zinc. This protects the steel from the elements and prevents rusting, making the piece suitable for both indoor and outdoor display.
Many customers love the raw galvanised finish for its industrial, contemporary look. However, some customers prefer the sculpture without galvanising, allowing it to naturally weather and develop a rich copper-brown patina over time. This creates a beautiful, organic finish similar to Shaunās Rain Man or Running Man sculptures.
For those who want a more customised appearance, the Nut Bull can also be powder-coated in a colour of your choice. Powder coating is available for an additional charge, which varies depending on the selected colour.
